The Spirit of Tu Bishvat

Tu Bishvat is contained in the act of planting our olive tree at Migwan.
We contemplate the essence of the tree and its fruits, its enduring permanence, its simple strength, requiring only healthy soil, air, water, sunlight. Not concrete, not skyscrapers, not guns, and no internet. In winter we protect the olive tree, in spring we contemplate its new life, in summer its fullness, and in autumn its changes.

We invite the children to help continue the cycle of creation by planting a seed, a sprouting legume, a sapling, a tree.

Here is permanence, regeneration, wonder. Here is a deep connection to the first tree, to our Jewish values of life, peace and healing the world.
